Trustee vacancy

“Even though we are locked up someone is listening to us”

Music In Detention takes music-making into immigration detention centres and then takes detainees’ music out into the community, to groups facing their own problems living near the centres.  Our work helps detainees to cope with detention, and people in the wider community to understand their experience of it.  We use shared experiences of music-making to build supportive relationships between detainees and the surrounding community. Please go to the Projects and Music areas of this website for stories about our work and tracks created and recorded by participants in MID workshops.

Set up in 2006, MID is a highly respected, specialist charity with a strong track record.  Following a strategy review, we have set ambitious goals for strengthening social impact and artistic quality over the next six years.  To achieve these we also need to develop income and financial stability in the next three years, and to this end have started to upgrade our fundraising and financial management practices.

To help our Board lead and guide this important work, it needs additional financial expertise.  So we are looking for an able and motivated individual with a strong background in charity finance to join our committed, experienced Board of Trustees.

The position may suit someone with senior charity finance experience, whether gained in a professional or voluntary role.  It could involve becoming our Treasurer, but this is not essential.  We are looking for someone who is excited by MID’s work, shares our values and will play an active part in the work of our Board.

See the downloads below for more information about MID's work and the Trustee role.
