GUAVA: UNBOUND is an online festival of emerging music and culture, here to amplify the phenomenal contribution to humanity that is Black music. It’s presented by Generation Uncovered, a London based collective of musicians who tour festivals in London, run mentoring programmes and champion the contribution Black music makes to the world.

SATURDAY 3RD OCTOBER 2 PM: LAMIN JOOF REPRESENTS MUSIC IN DETENTION @ THE SOCIAL JUSTICE FORUM: THE COLOUR BAR

The Colour Bar is a point of resistance, where lines are crossed to make positive change for the many and not the few. This discussion will be chaired by activist, Awqa Colque and will explore the ongoing impacts of colonialism on global and local injustices. There will be contributions from Music Declares Emergency, Music in Detention, Safe Ground and Wiphalas Across The World.

Lamin Joof is a musician, a parent, someone who has been held in the UK’s Immigration Detention system and a Trustee of the charity Music in Detention.

SATURDAY 3RD OCTOBER 8 PM: MID ARTIST RAS CHRIS PERFORMS LIVE. Live concert, streamed from Tiles Yard Recording Studios in Kings Cross. Featuring talented and diverse voices emerging into London’s Black British music scene, including Aneesa Marie, ArA Harmonic, Boy Nash, Chrissy Day and DeeRiginal.  Supported by the DMB Quartet, DStix Barnett, Emre Daniels and Rozuw, under the Musical Direction of Delroy Murray.

For Unbound, Ras Chris will perform a track he wrote and MID recorded, when Chris was held in immigration detention at Brook House IRC. Live streamed from Kings Cross, and supported by Generation Uncovered.

SUNDAY 4th OCTOBER 2:30 PM: PREMIER SCREENING OF MID TRACK  ‘SONGS OF FREEDOM’ A new music video, made by The Mouth That Roars Programme, accompanying a track composed and recorded in Harmondsworth Immigration Detention Centre.  Another music video also made by Mouth That Roars, accompanying Ras Chris’ track Silence will also be screened.

Mouth That Roars produces films made by young people, encouraging them to challenge mainstream opinion, highlighting their own perspective.
