Music In Detention and the New Theatre Royal Portsmouth are entering into a new partnership, to develop participatory music opportunities for immigration detainees at Haslar Immigration Removal Centre and the local community in the Gosport and Solent area.

We are now recruiting a Programme Co-ordinator to lead the development of the Music In Detention programme in the Solent area.  Key elements of the job are:

  • Developing, delivering and promoting an engaging programme of regular participatory music activities with immigration detainees and in the local community
  • Using inter-cultural music making to build relationships and understanding between detainees and local people
  • Developing and supporting the Solent MID Partnership
  • Work on fundraising, communications, marketing, evaluation, good practice development and other supporting tasks

The Programme Co-ordinator will be employed by the New Theatre Royal and based in Portsmouth.  This is a part-time post: 18.5 hours per week at a salary of £11500 pa.  The post is initially for 6 months; the contract will be reviewed and extended on a yearly basis in line with the new financial year in April.
